Young people in Hartlepool aged up to 25 are invited to enter a new creative competition called 'Through Our Eyes', run by Hartlepool Borough Council. The competition asks participants to express what makes Hartlepool welcoming, inclusive and supportive through their own unique creative perspective.
Themes and submission formats
Entries should explore one or more of the following themes: friendship, inclusion, community, kindness, diversity, learning, aspiration, belonging and hope. Participants are free to interpret the themes in their own way.
Submissions can take any creative form, including artwork, poetry, creative writing, photography or another creative medium. There are no right or wrong ideas.
Awards and recognition
Awards will be presented to recognise and celebrate the creativity, originality and achievements of the young people taking part. Selected entries will go on display.
Councillor Jim Lindridge, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council's Children's Services Committee, said: "Young people see the world in ways that can inspire and surprise us, and Through Our Eyes is a wonderful opportunity for them to share their creativity and tell their stories."
"We know there is a huge amount of artistic talent, imagination and originality among children and young people in Hartlepool, and I would encourage all of them to get involved."
How to submit
Entries should include the young person's name, age and school, the contact details of their appropriate adult, and an optional short explanation of the work. The deadline for submission is Friday 23 October.
Entries can be submitted by email to inclusion@hartlepool.gov.uk or delivered to the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) in Brierton Lane during normal office hours.
