Hartlepool Borough Council is running free events throughout Love Parks Week, which runs from 24 July to 2 August, in partnership with local organisations including Hartlepool Sport and Play Out Hartlepool.

Love Parks Week is an annual national campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy that highlights the role of green spaces in boosting health and wellbeing in communities.

Activities will take place at Ward Jackson Park, Rossmere Park, Seaton Park, Burn Valley Gardens, the Town Moor and Seaton Carew main beach. All events are free and suitable for all ages, with no booking required.

What's on during Love Parks Week

Sunday 26 July will be the busiest day. Ward Jackson Park hosts a Little Fun Food Fest (10am-4pm) exploring how to reduce food waste, outdoor bowls with Hartlepool and District Bowls Association (10am-4pm, flat shoes required), messy crafts and games (10am-4pm), traditional games (10am-4pm), and a brass band performance at the bandstand (1pm-3pm). Rossmere Park will host football and other games (11am-2pm), the Town Moor will have basketball (11am-2pm), and Seaton Carew main beach will offer beach volleyball near the beach huts (11am-2pm).

Tuesday 28 July sees sports, crafts and walking quests at Seaton Carew's play area on The Front (11am-2pm).

Wednesday 29 July offers urban sport in Burn Valley Gardens' Lower Garden (11am-2pm) and a nature hunt with painting and arts and crafts at Ward Jackson Park (11am-2pm).

Thursday 30 July and Saturday 1 August feature Tai Chi and Qigong sessions at Ward Jackson Park. Thursday's session runs 10am-11am, and Saturday's runs 2pm-3pm, both led by Mark Scanlon.

Friday 31 July brings sports and play activities to Seaton Park in Station Lane, Seaton Carew (11am-2pm).

Sunday 2 August concludes the week with football and other games at Rossmere Park (11am-2pm) and basketball on the Town Moor (11am-2pm).
