Hartlepool Borough Council's Economic Growth Team is running Summer at Seaton, a programme of free events and activities across the school summer holidays. All events take place at Seaton Carew between late July and late August 2026, with activities suitable for all ages.
Councillor Rob Darby, Chair of the Council's Housing, Growth and Communities Committee, said the initiative has become a highlight of the school holidays. "The programme offers a fantastic range of free activities for families to enjoy together, from sports and archaeology to history and local markets," he said.
What's on
A Hartlepool Sport Activity Day runs on Tuesday 28 July from 11am to 2pm in the beach hut area on the Seaton Carew promenade. Visitors can try a range of sporting activities by the seaside.
History Walks with Tees Archaeology take place on Wednesday 5 August, meeting at Seaton Carew Community Hub. An adults-only walk runs from 9.45am to 10.45am, followed by a family-friendly walk from 11am to 12pm. Places must be booked in advance.
An Explore Hartlepool Maker's Market will be held at the beach huts on Tuesday 11 August from 10am to 4pm, featuring local makers and independent traders.
Be A Mini Archaeologist with Tees Archaeology runs on Wednesday 19 August from 11am to 1pm at the playground on Seaton front. This hands-on activity is designed for young people to learn about archaeology and history.
A second Hartlepool Sport Activity Day takes place on Tuesday 25 August from 11am to 2pm in the beach hut area.
